I've only seen Brussels from the station, using Eurostar so it was nice to see a bit more of the city.
But this was not to see Brussels itself but going to a studio.
We visited Isabella de Borchgrave
This is part of the exhibition area.
Amazed that we were allowed to see where and how they work. It's a beautiful place where she lives and works and also can exhibit. She was originally a painter but discovered paper and is doing amazing things with all combined.
One of the works on show
Here a detail of the above work, where you can see that it is made of carton, that has been painted.
This is a mock up that she made of her previous studio
She is famous for her paper dresses, these are exhibited at the moment in USA.
Next month there will be an exhibition of her work here in Breda, looking forward to going there.
and interesting corner with her pigments.
In the afternoon we went to an exhibition here.
Beautiful fascinating house with an interesting exhibition: The Silk Route in Blue.
Many artists from different parts of the world were brought here together.
I only discovered the last room, at the moment we had to leave to go back home again with this work by Betty de Paris
I will look out for her to see more of her work.
There was just to much to show all, but there was also one work by Isabella
Lovely art nouveau detail from the house itself
This was a work by Arlette Vermeieren, made of paper and sweet wrappers
with here a detail
This is a work by Alighiero Boetti, made with blue ballpoint pen on paper
and here a detail.
Worth while making the day trip
