Memories

Life can be hard. My father is struggling in his last days. Very sad to see this.
Here a picture of happier times, less than 60 years ago!
I'm away from home a lot now but when at home I've made a warp for the Magic Dobby.
It is mohair and I hope to get it on the loom asap
I've not decided yet how many shafts I'll use, but I was thinking to weave a network with a darker grey as weft. The repeat cannot be more than 30 as that is the amount of bars I have. No idea when the interface will be available for my Magic Dobby but with all that is going on around me I would not have the energy to get the interface installed anyway.
I just need to get the warp on quickly so that I can start weaving when at home.

  1. So sorry to hear that your father is failing. My father is 80 and spent much of last year under intense medical care and though home now, is much frailer and weak.

Like you I have been looking at pictures of better days.

The weaving will help you to re balance...

Sounds like we are of a similar age group and time of life.

  2. Margreet,
So sorry to hear about your father. I love the photo from 60+ years ago....so sweet.

The purple mohair warp is lovely. It will wait until you have more focus.

    Wishing you peace.

  3. I love the old-time photo. It looks like a Studebaker behind him, a trendy vehicle and he looks like a trendy man. I just finished reading a fiction that made me realize how fortunate I am to live in a culture and time that has photo memories. Best wishes~
